According to media reports, the bus crew told the officials that a transport employee Selvaraj had placed the bags in the vehicle and that they knew nothing about it.

One of the bags also contained a bank passook and an ID card in the name of Ramesh from Tiruvannamalai. Selvaraj was later detained for interrogation.

In a separate incident on Wednesday, unaccounted cash totalling Rs 2.10 crore was seized from the car of a VCK functionary near Perambalur. The currency notes were stacked inside the seats and also concealed in door panels.
