Chennai: Two workers were killed after a wall collapsed on them at a leather tannery at Pammal, Pallavaram.
According to sources, the incident took place Thursday at the factory at Kannaiyiram Street.
Three workers were cleaning a tank when its wall collapsed on them. The trio were identified as Akram Ansari (22), Mohammed Abith (22) and Ajay from Jharkhand.
It is reported that Akarm died on the spot and Mohammad was rushed to Chrompet Government Hospital and then shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital where he passed away in the wee hours of today. Sources said, Ajay is in critical condition.
A police source said, the men were cleaning a tank when the weak wall fell on them. Even as Ansari died of external injuries on the spot, Mohamman had consumed the chemical in the tank and died of a cardiac arrest. The factory is owned by one Shajat Ahmed.
