Chennai: The Tiruvallur constituency was formed after the 2008 delimitation by merging Assembly segments of Gummidipoondi, Ponneri, Tiruvallur and Poonamallee.

AIADMK’s P Venugopal is the incumbent MP of the constituency and was also the winner during the 2009 polls.

The Lok Sabha constituency comprises of Gummidipoondi, Ponneri, Tiruvallur, Poonamallee, Avadi and Madhavaram Assembly constituencies.

The constituency has a total voters of 19,20,372, out of which 9,49,684 are men, 9,70,347 are women and 341 transgenders.
