
The 22nd annual music festival of K K Nagar-based Sri Rama Bhaktha Jana Samaj was conducted at Avichi School, Virugambakkam, from 16 to 25 December.
Narada Gana Sabha vice-president Narayana Viswanath inaugurated the festival and presented Sangeetha Maamani award to vocalist O S Thyagarajan.
Speaking on the occasion, Viswanath recalled the services of Thyagarajan to the Carnatic music and his stint at Annamalai University.
The award comprised a citation, silver medal and cash prize of Rs 5,000, said samaj vice-president V Vaidyanathan. The inauguration was followed by a concert by Thyagarajan.
