Chennai: DMK president M K Stalin today welcomed the convening of the Tamilnadu Assembly on Thursday based on the request of the Opposition parties to discuss Mekedatu issue.

He said DMK’s stand will be based on the resolution that will be tabled by the State government.
He further said the Central Government should give more relief funds for cyclone Gaja hit areas than what the State government had asked for.

A brief notification issued by Governor Banwarilal Purohit Tuesday said the House will meet at 4 pm Thursday.

The notification came on a day when the DMK-led opposition parties staged a protest in Tiruchi, in the heart of the Cauvery delta region, against the Centre’s nod to Karnataka for a Detailed Project Report for building the dam at Mekedatu across the inter-state Cauvery river and demanding special Assembly session.
