Thanks to the Inner Wheel Club of Madras South, students of classes six to eight from MCN Higher Secondary School, Habibullah Road, exhibited their talents by drawing a variety of models to save rain water at a competition conducted in the school premises recently.
A press release said, Praveen Kumar of class six won the first prize, Tamil Vendan stood second and Saranraj bagged the third slot at the competition.
Speaking about the models presented by the children, Kasthuri Somasundaram, a co-ordinator of the event and member of the club, said, “Over 50 of them who took part in the event, drew new ideas to save rain water by routing to the ground and also in water tanks. Each one had a different version and we could understand that youngsters realise the necessity to save the precious resource.”
A few children also spoke about conservation and narrated the methods adopted in their houses. This was well appreciated by the staff, teaching members of the school and the audience,” she added.
