Several districts in Tamilnadu will receive rains owing to the Cyclone Mandous. Red alert has been issued to three districts: Chengalpattu, Villupuram and Kancheepuram.

Cyclone Mandous has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm in Bay of Bengal and is moving at a speed of 12 km per hour towards Tamil Nadu. It is expected to make landfall near Mamallapuram tonight.

As the ‘Mandous Cyclone’ is likely to become severe and gather more intensity by Friday morning, the Greater Chennai Corporation issued precautionary measures and ordered to close all parks and playgrounds till further notice.
